Sebald Justinus Brugmans was buried in 1819 in Pieterskerk, Leiden (Kloksteeg 16). Six years later, his brother had a monument erected for him there. The bust was sculpted by Paulus Joseph Gabriël; the pedestal was designed by David Pièrre Giottino Humbert de Superville (1).
