This elegant funeral tablet to the memory of Andreas Bacherius can be seen on a column of the Pieterskerk in Leiden. “His epithaph is made polychromed sandstone and is richly decorated with his family coat of arms and a vanitas object, namely the skull on the top right of the pediment. This symbolized the transience of life”(1).
