Hôpital civil - Himetop

The Hôpital civil of Strasbourg (main historic entrance from the Place de L'Hôpital) is one of the oldest medical establishments in France. Today it is a major component of the University Hospitals of Strasbourg¹. The origins of the hospital - which is a real citadel of great artistic and architectural value - date back to the 12th century. Some extant buildings date back to 14th and 15th centuries.

On the monumental portal of the building facing the Pharmacy, an inscription remembers the rebuilding of the Hospital in 1724, after that a tremendous fire had destroyed a great part of it in 1716
