Leopold Auenbrugger’s last home

A bronze tablet on the facade remembers that Leopold Auenbrugger died in this house of Vienna (Neuer Markt, 9) on May 18th, 1809. The house is located right next to the famous Kapuzinerkirche (now – August 2016 – undergoing renovation). The memorial tablet was unveiled in 1909 and the German inscription reads as follows: “Sterbehaus / des Medicinae Doctor / Leopold Auenbrugger / Edlen von Auenbrugg / Erfinders der Perkussion / des Brustkorbes / geb. 19. Nov. 1722, gest. 18. Mai 1809 / A.D. 1909 / INVENTUM NOVUM”-
