This is the house in Voorhout (Kerkweg 11) where Herman Boerhaave was born on December 31, 1668.
“The architectural value of the Boerhaave House is not particularly great, although there are facades that are rarely found in the Randstad anymore. The rear facade, in particular, features elements of the Dutch Renaissance. The entrance to the house lies on the axis of symmetry of the grounds. The house contains, among other things, a spacious marble hallway, several living rooms and bedrooms, extensive attics, and a large kitchen. In the largest living room, the niche of the box bed in which Boerhaave must have been born on December 31, 1668, is still present”[1].
Unfortunately, the house is not open to the public, while its beautiful garden, richly symbolic and evocative, is.
