Harmony Between Medicine and Surgery

This interesting 19th Century fresco can be seen in a central position of the umbrella ceiling of the Aula Scarpa in the University of Pavia. Two women symbolizing Medicine and Surgery shake hands: it shows how the two disciplines, separated and almost hostile for so many centuries, were finally reconciling and finding a new mutual respect.
