How to create a new item in the Himetop database

How to create a new item in the Himetop database:

1. Ask for a Himetop account by writing to Luca Borghi: [email protected]
2. Be sure that you have suitable photographic and bibliographic material about one or more places/material memories of medical interest.
3. When you are in editing mode, choose a title for your new page, go to the upper menu, choose “+ New” then “Page”.
4. Write the title in the “Add title” box.
5. Push the button “Publish” on the right side of the page. IMPORTANT NOTE from here on, to save any change or addition to your page you must push the “Update” button (again, on the right side of the page): if you don’t do it, every change will be lost.
6. In the designated box, write a description of your item that is as factually and historically accurate as possible.
7. Your description must always include the full name/s of people involved, as well as the name of the city (followed by the exact address in parentheses) where the object is located.
8. Add the links to the corresponding “people” and “city” pages by using the shortcut🔗. If these pages do not exist yet, you must create them as well. Please follow the format of the following examples: a. for people: https://himetop.unicampus.it/john-hunter/ b. for a city: https://himetop.unicampus.it/list-of-countries/france/lyon-and-the-auvergne-rhone-alpes-region/
9. Prepare the photos you want to show in your new page in the following way: a. Rename them with the same title of your new page and number them (i.e. “John Smith’s monument – 01”, “John Smith’s monument – 02”, etc.). b. Resize them to a maximum size of 2MB each.
10. When you are in the editing mode of your new page, push the “Add Media” button, and upload your images in the Media library by following the instructions.
11. Then you can add them to your page by pushing the “Insert into page” button on the bottom-right.
12. At the end of your new page, after the text and the image/s, you must add the following template: – Photo/s by Name + Surname of the photographer (Month/Year) – Locate the item on this Google Map. [to add the link to the appropriate Google Map, see below]
13. Go to the menu on the right side of the page (still in editing mode) and add at least one appropriate tag to your page. Usually the first tag coincides with the category of your item (i.e., museum, monument, birthplace, hospital…). See the “Categories” drop-down menu at the beginning of each page (in view mode).
14. Go again to the menu on the right side of the page (still in editing mode) and add the parent page in the appropriate box (region or country to which the city of your item belongs).
15. You must now add a link to your new page to at least three pages: a. the appropriate region/town page; b. the appropriate Category page; c. the appropriate people page/s.
16. To check if everything is ok in your new page and to add a link to the corresponding Google Map, send an e-mail to the Administrator of Himetop: [email protected].
